Art tour to display local talent

IT’S BEEN many years since there’s been an art tour in the area, but that changes this coming weekend.

Over May 14 and 15, artists at nine locations will display their talents.

Organizer and artist Susann Williamson said the idea for  the tour  grew out of conversations with  other  artists.

“There used to be tours, but those were many, many years ago,” said Williamson, who moved to the area four years ago.

“There is such a wide variety of art now available here.”

There isn’t any single sponsoring body behind the tour, but it has been generating a lot of interest and support, said Williamson.

The tour lists includes the Clay Artists of Terrace, the Blue Trim Cottage Group, Craig Simpson, the House of Carvers, Joerg Jung, Anita Desnoyers, Laura Chris McGregor, Mountainside Stained Glass and Marion Schlegel.

Todd Stephens and Nigel Fox, who have both attended the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art at Northwest Community College, will be guest artists at Mountainside Stained Glass.

The tour is being held over two days so that no one should feel pressured to visit every tour stop on one day, said Williamson.

“We want people to have a chance to see it all,” she said.

Tour information and pricing is available at Misty River Books, Sidewalkers, George Little House and the Terrace Art Gallery.
